I am currently considering buying Victoria II in addition to the expansions HOD and AHD. I say this as proud owner of CK2, EU4, HOI4, and Stellaris, owning all or most of the DLC for these games, and having over 1200 hours in these total. I enjoy all of these immensely, but I've heard that Victoria 2 is a lot more complicated and has an extremely high learning curve. The map and interface also look dated, although this is a minor issue. All of this in mind, should I get this game? How similar is it to the more modern Paradox titles? Is there anything I should know about it, or essential mods?

Importantly, is the learning curve less steep for experienced players of other Paradox games? Thanks for the help.EDIT: Thank you to everyone who gave a response. I've decided to purchase the full game. Dust racing 2d games. If ever a Victoria 3 came out, I'd adore a more dynamic influencing system. For example, if a country is purchasing goods from you or you purchase goods from them, the influence begins to tick up.

High relarions and proximity will also build influence. Comparative ranking should also play a factor (#100 will suck up faster to #1, while #9 doesn't really care what #8 thinks).

Cash in accrued influence for various treaties, like non aggression pacts and reduced tariff agreements, which further the gain of influence. Or use influence to make them break treaties with other countries.

Whoever has the most influence and treaties spheres them.Rough ideas, but I'd love to see something similar.
