Sally Face Episode 2

Sally Face’s second episode, titled “The Wretched,” was released just a few days ago, and it exceeds the expectations that the first episode laid out for it. From the there were many theories and speculations for what could be in store for this part. I had my own thoughts about what this episode could mean for the series as well. As it turns out, were accurate, while other elements of the second episode left me speechless and in tears. The atmosphere of Sally Face has been kicked up an entirely new notch this episode. From darker themed music to new and horrifying characters, there was something about this episode that had a fear factor to it more than the first one had. I had been hoping that the developers would take a darker route this time, and that is exactly what they did. For the overall theme and atmosphere of the game, it was exactly what I was looking for.The new characters that had been teased to us before the released were outstanding.

They fit the game perfectly, and each character added something special to the second episode. For example, Todd, a new character for episode two, became a crucial ally for Sally Face. The introduction to all of the new ghost and demon characters was nothing short of amazing. Each one had a specific backstory and distinct trait, which I will go into here.Sally’s “Gearboy” became very important to the story this time around, which made me very happy. I was looking forward to seeing more mysterious 8-bit mini-games. This time, when every new ghost or demon was summoned, a mini-game on the Gearboy was unlocked that would tell the story of the ghost further.

This is interesting and inventive, especially compared to the last episode. This time, the plot completely threw me for a loop, especially towards the end. The objective for this episode was to break the curse on Sally’s best friend, Larry, and to find his dad who disappeared a while back. Things quickly build up and get more intense as time goes on, and the flashbacks from the past and present start to make sense. The main gameplay is from the past. The cutscenes of Sally with the therapist waiting for a trial is the present. For the duration of this game, a big question is: Why is Sally the one who is convicted?

Who did he murder and why is he being tried for it? Right at the end when we are watching the present unfold, lots of new information and a. When Sally’s therapist goes to the old treehouse by the apartment that Sally and Larry used to live in, he sees the “Ghost of Larry.” That is the first big shocker, that Larry is going to die. The therapist gets so frightened by the sight of the Ghost of Larry warning him to let Sally go and to give him a chance to prove himself innocent, that the therapist falls down the treehouse, breaks his neck, and dies. This was Sally’s one chance to prove himself innocent, and now he is back to square one because that evidence was lost. This episode of Sally Face left me in tears.

It was an emotional roller-coaster that dropped me on a cliffhanger and kept my interest all the way to the end. Few games leave me crying from being heart-wrenching, tear-jerking, and just simply everything one would want in a video game. However, Sally Face is an exception. This has easily made it into my list of top five favorite games, and I look forward to seeing what direction Sally Face will take from this point forward.
